HEAR YE, HEAR YE: I no longer own the Historical Costume Rental portion of my business. Please email me at sales@bettegant.com if you live near Sacramento and are in need of a costume rental for Sutter's Fort. I can email you the information of the person who purchased that portion of my business.

Thanks

Miners trade gold dust for food and supplies. During the Gold Rush, gold dust, measured into leather pouches, was the medium of exchange for most merchants and traders who did business with the miners. Gold hunters could swap gold dust for sacks of flour, beans, sides of bacon, molasses, gunpowder and other necessities. Prices were frequently exorbitant - at one point, a dozen eggs cost $10.

Men and Boys - Most the costumes that are for the men and boys can go along with jeans or brown pants that you may already have. Jackets, shirts and hats can be rented and are made in a variety of sizes.

Interior of a miner's cabin 1852. This well-built and well-equipped cabin at Rough and Ready is a far cry from some of the more primitive shacks many miners built for themselves. The gold hunter seems prepared for almost any need.
